Forgotten
Five toe tags. The final remnants of a forgotten life. An abandoned corpse and a funeral home that no longer is in business.
The funeral home business has been consolidated, bought out by bigger corporations and running the family owned shops out of business, some of which have been around for decades. That was the fate of D.B. Palmer and Sons Funeral Home. It had been in the family for generations, and at one point they were doing one hundred and fifty or so funerals in a year, but as time went on, their business dwindled. They were down to only three of four a year. The final straw was when the cremation furnace broke. Rather than fix it, they simply closed up shop.
James Palmer sold the property, which was worth more than the building, due to gentrification. However, he had decades of stuff in the building. He had heard that there was a market for items from funeral homes.
Thanks to James Palmer, you were able to get these toe tags that once belonged to the unclaimed bodies which were brought to the funeral home. James had never been able to get rid of them while the funeral home was open. It just didn’t seem right, but now he had no choice. At least someone would value them. Hopefully.
There are multiple ways to present this routine. You can have a spectator simply think of one of the names on the toe tag and you can spell it out, revealing that their very name lead you to them.
You can also have the envelopes mixed and one selected. The spectator can read the tag and replace it in the envelope. You can then place all of the envelopes in a row and light candles on them and one goes out. You then start to describe what the person looks like, how they died and finally their name. You pick up the extinguished candle and remove the toe tag from the envelope and it is the very name they were thinking of.
You receive:
* Five perfectly aged toe tags.
* Five aged envelopes to contain them.
* A full color PDF with instructions on multiple routines.
